Ting Kok Village: A Tranquil and Modern Residential House

Creating a Seamless Transition between Indoors and Outdoors

The inspiration for Ting Kok Village came from the clients' desire to live in a relaxing place where they can unwind after a busy day. The designers took advantage of the geographical conditions and made good use of the natural surroundings to create a tranquil yet modern home. The result is a house that not only blends with the outdoor scenery but also offers a spiritual refreshment through the unlimited expanse of natural views and sunlight.

What sets Ting Kok Village apart from other residential houses is its unique design features. The usage of wood finishes, different shades of blue, and white perfectly matches the green landscape view under the sky. The overall design exudes a sense of modernity and peace, providing the greatest spaciousness and a view of nature from every angle.

To realize the design, the designers focused on creating a spacious and peaceful home that seamlessly integrates with nature. An open-plan kitchen and workspace were created to make the home feel more spacious, while full-height glass panels and folding glass doors were used to bring homeowners closer to nature and allow sunlight to flood every corner of the house. The choice of wood finishes, different shades of blue, and white inside the home further strengthens the connection with nature.

Ting Kok Village spans 700 square feet and is located in Tai Po, Hong Kong. The project started in March 2017 and was completed in 4 months. Throughout the design process, the designers conducted extensive research, communicating with the homeowners to understand their preferences, daily habits, and favorite styles. They also explored different colors and found that blue, known for its relaxing properties, was the perfect choice to match the overall design and outdoor view.

One of the main challenges faced by the designers was creating a strong connection between the inside and outside. By using full-height glass panels and folding glass doors, they successfully achieved this transition, allowing the outdoor view to seamlessly blend with the interior. The abundant sunlight throughout the house acts as a seam connecting everything, while the natural colors used inside the house further enhance the connection.

Ting Kok Village has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2018. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
